Commission a shoot

Most of our work is commissioned by brands, agencies and editors. Here is how a commission runs and how it is priced — then run the numbers yourself.

From brief to delivery

  1. 01

    Brief

You tell us what the photographs are for, where they will run and when. The estimate page turns that into a range in two minutes.

  2. 02

    Written estimate

Within two working days: creative fee, licence, post-production and production, line by line, with what is and is not included.

  3. 03

    Pre-production

Shot list, casting, locations or stage booking, crew and a call sheet. We hold the date once the estimate is approved.

  4. 04

    The shoot

Tethered, with the art director and client seeing frames as they are made. Selects can be starred on set.

  5. 05

    Selects

A private contact sheet the next day. You mark the frames to retouch and send the list back from the page.

  6. 06

    Delivery and licence

Retouched files in the sizes you need, with a licence document naming the media, territory and term you bought.

Questions we get

Do you travel?

Yes. Travel days are charged at half the day rate plus expenses at cost; we estimate them separately.

Who owns the photographs?

Stopholt keeps the copyright and licenses the use you need. Buyouts are possible and are priced as an unlimited licence.

Can we extend a licence later?

Always. Extending a term or adding a medium is usually cheaper than buying more than you need on day one.

Do you work with agencies' own crews?

Yes — deselect any production line in the estimate and bring your own people.
